7/1/19 & 7/2/19 WKOK Sunrise: Barbara Schaffer and Dr. Vikas Passi

On the suggestion of Barbara Schaffer of Northumberland, WKOK traveled to Dr. Vikas Passi's Watsontown area office to discuss critical issues and opportunities in pain management, the impact the opioid crisis has had on people with intractable pain, and how we can respond to new government created challenges in the medical field. What followed was a 30-minute discussion about the nature of debilitating pain, the many ways pain can be treated, and how new restrictions on opioids are making some modalities of pain management deadly difficult. We hope this presentation will be the first of a series of important conversations about pain, opioids, and our nation's response to the changing pain management landscape.
