Mitch Troutman, former Trevorton resident, author, activist, and co-founder of Anthracite Unite, on his new book: The Bootleg Coal Rebellion: The Pennsylvania Miners Who Seized an Industry, 1925–1942, on the truly American homegrown industry of bootleg mines, how they started, why the thrived, why the stopped, and a thousand machinations of the government, business, human, cultural and coal production institutions in between. We’ll talk about his experiences and why preserving his pivotal time—speaks to present day. He’ll talk about his upcoming appearances in The Valley.
